Question HELP mysterious power drain

Any help apreciated. The 85 SD has developed a power drain that will take the battery dead in about 5-8 hours. So far I have narrowed it down to circut 13 in the fuse box. Read the cryptic box lid not alot of help. So, anybody have ideas? Thank You all.

Fuse 13 is for hazards, clock, radio and door locks. The only high amps item in the bunch is the door lock pump unless there's a mjor short in the other items. Maybe the pump is stuck on. I believe it's in the spare tire well in your car. Disconnect the electrical connections and see if the drain goes away.

Don't ignore the battery itself. A short inside the battery grid can drain the battery in just a few hours. It will act like something is draining it down.

Something I heard somewhere way back when, anyway try disconnecting the clock, there is one "slip together" connection if you can reach back up under the dash, don't know if there is enough room. You would have to wrap the end of the wire to protect it from shorting as it will, of course, be hot and make sure its dead while disconnecting. I remember something about the clock causing a "flat battery", might be worth a look see. Good Luck

If that blew the diodes you would lose all or most of the charge output from the alternator. Quick way to test that is to hook a volt/ohmeter to your battery terminals. Check the voltage before starting. Should be around 11.8. Then start the car. With lights on it should read around 13.5. It can read higher, up to around 14.4, if your alternator is in good shape.
If the reading is no better than the low 13's with the car running you need to check further. Not nessecarily the alternator though. It can sometimes be a bad conntection from the alternator. Those can get dirty and foul up you charge.
