The Front Seat Belt on my 1985 Mercedes 300D is jammed and won't release
The Front Seat Belt on my 1985 Mercedes 300D won't release. I took it out of the car and it still wont release. My hunch is that this item can't be repaired and it has to be replaced. I'm alittle leery of dissasembling it too much as I dont want to watch the inside spring uncoil all over my garage..
Is there a way to fix this thing? Or is worn out? http://mywebpages.comcast.net/rtc9/BENZ.html |

Probably either worn out or has something stuck in it. In either case, a perfect part to get at the recycle yard....

I also have a problem with one of my front seat belt buckles. How do you get the piece of plastic trim, colored like the seats, off? Appears that you need to get that off before you can remove the buckle assy. from the side of the seat.
Thanks in advance for any help or suggestions.

Maybe not applicable to '85 but...
Drivers side belt would not catch on my 75 240D.
Good family owned independent employee explained not really fixable, need to replace, hard to find used. Owner's frau test drove car to verify other repairs. She couldn't get seat belt to engage. Told son to fix it. Works fine. No charge. Good luck to you!
