Overlooked Oil Filter Stem Seals
In ordering parts last night, I think I've been overlooking those two little seals that go on the stem of the oil filter housing top. Its the long stem that goes through the air filter that is supposed to have these, but I don't recall seeing them when I change oil.
Can anyone tell me the function that they have and what I've been risking without them? Thanks Don

Thanks TX:
I just ordered eight which will at least cover the stable. 11 degrees up here right now. Oh how I remember my trip to Houston to retrieve that '83. Nice weather! Don

This question makes me wonder: If those seals are bad, will they give a false high oil reading on the dipstick when the engine is cold? Will they also cause a false high reading when hot if you wait too long and the oil drains out of the filter?
