Depends on chassis type. What year is it?
I've replaced the heater core on the 115 and 201 chassis and had to remove the whole dashboard on both. I almost had the heater box open the other week on my 123 chassis without removing the dash, but I say almost. I think there were clips holding the box together on top that would require the whole dash to come out to get at.

The car is an 83.
The dash board is actually heavily cracked so I'm thinking of getting a better s/hand replacement - is it reasonable to entertain changing this or is it insanely difficult? Steve |

i had to replace two heater cores on 123's. 8 hour on the first, 6 hours on the second. which is close to book time. the dash must come out. paid 400 at the dealer for the first one and 200 for the second. they where exactly the same
