Notice in his signature line he said" More miles than I care to post? "

What's up with that? I'm at 267k and proud of it!

Pesuazo,

no offense taken!

I can't speak for everyone on this board, but in my case I have a 600+ mile per week commute, and I really want my oil burner to go 400K before I need to do any serious engine work. It made no sense whatever for me to buy a new(er) car and eat the depreciation as I drove the wheels off it.

That having been said, we love our diesels because they go the distance, take the punishment and the car itself has the usual good traits (ride quality, comfort and handling) that your gasser has.

There is a guy who once posted a message that he needed to replace his speedo with one from a junkyard, and he rolled the odometer UP to the 306,000 or whatever it was so as to properly reflect his car's mileage. That's the mindset we have--

Nate

pesuazo,

And no offense intended at you. You had a legitimate problem with your car. I just took the opportunity to make light of the fact that running on 5cyl is a bad thing for someone with an M103 and a good thing for anyone with an OM617 or OM602.
