I've been wondering about using the weatherstrip adhesive on this application since you mentioned it. When I replaced the window seal in the drivers door on the 300TD I did not use any. Just removed the old and installed the new. Have not had any problems with it.

I was told the same about the yellow, but they have a new "super" black that's supposed to be as good.
We'lll see........

engatwork - you were correct.
I did not need adheasive. The old channel pulled out and the new one slid into place quite nicely. The hardest part was putting the door panel back on. I consider that a job for a person with three hands. Advice for others attempting this repair: After removing the door panel and pulling out the old channel, start pushing the new channel into place from the upper rear corner. The channel has a nice bent corner in it to match the window frame and if you start elsewhere the corner might not lign up when finished. Pop it into place and then press the rest around the frame sliding the leftover down into the door. Also FYI - There is a long piece of it that disappears down the front into the door. I don't know where it goes but you will see what I mean when you pull the old one out. Don't shorten the new one "because it looks like it will be too long". Thanks

On my 124, I shot silicone spray liberally on the new rubber channel back side, as well as down the metal U-channel in the door. I started sliding it down and used a long, thin piece of flat metal to keep it pushed in as I slid it, otherwise it popped out of the channel a couple inches down. You MUST make sure it's in place all the way, or when you roll the window up it will jam and cause damage if you don't release the switch! It's a nuisance but not that hard, took me 2-3 tries and maybe 15 minutes.

Vapor Barrier??
I just realized that I didn't see a vapor barrier on the inside of the door. I remember seeing one when I replaced the door chek on the rear door, but not on the front door.
Is this necessary? If so, could I just use plastic garbage bag material and double sided tape? Thanks

You should have a vapor barrier and yes, trash bag parts will suffice.
