'79 300 td for sale
Hey there...
Picked this beast up about a year ago... a bit funky but ran great. Started mixing veggie oil in with with fuel with no problem till the filter clogged... changed filters... ran fine. Did this twice. third time it didn't work. Car starts then stalls... or will idle for about ten minutes then dies... or will stall about a block from the house (drove back in reverse). Removed and cleaded lift and hand pump... acts the same. I think the engine is fine. Would a faulty overflow valve be responsible? I pulled what I think is this valve...hollow bolt with a spring and plug of some sort... how does one know. I'm giving up and will accept any reasonable offer for the car. Unless someone can help with ideas on fix. Also have '69 250 (gas) looks and runs pretty darn well... Come get 'em in AZ -Vonzippo

Do you have any pics? What sort of shape's the wagon body/suspension/interior in?

I'd suspect you have an air leak in the fuel delivery system somewhere. Try running the car on a small container of diesel in the engine compartment feeding directly into the fuel pump. That will exclude air leaks further upstream.
