replaced door lock element
just replaced one of the door lock elements due to a vac leak. even though i took out the seat it was still difficult. the screws are tough to get at even with an "s" screwdiriver and the c clamp was too big for the metal flange of the new element...had to file it down. hope i don't have to that again for awhile.

This is why I prefer manual door locks--those autmatic door locks are the highest failure item on any of my cars. Actually, they have never all worked on any older Jaguar I have owned, so I guess if I ever move to a big city I will have to sell the jag. The dealer once quoted $800 to fix the locks on a previous jag! On a Rolls Royce, it might be worth it....

Mark300CD:
Am I missing something? Are you refering to the vacuum actuator behind the door skin? Or is a CD radically different? I find the door actuators to be a fairly pleasant job. Don

I think he meant replacing the seatback locking elements to fix a central locking (vacuum) problem.

Yep, that would make more sense to me. I haven't tackled that one yet.
