Driver side front window. 81 300D
The driver side front window works backwards. When you push forward on the switch (normally up) the window goes down. All three other window switches work normally. Forward is up and back is down. I recently, had the console off to replace the hazard flasher switch, and tried to fix the window switch by reversing the position of the wires. The front driver side window switch has a red, green, and black wire. I tried switching the red and green in hopes that this would reverse the direction of the switch but all it did was blow to fuses. I replaced the fuses and buttoned everything back up like I found it. Any suggestions?

wiring
I scanned the manual for the 81 D/CD for the left front switch/motor wiring. Here's what the MB manual says: Wiring to the motor is sw (up) and gn (down). SW connects to pin 3 in the switch, gn connects to pin 4. Power comes into the switch on pin 5 rt. Is this how the switch is setup?
Color coding sw-schwartz (black) gn-grun (green) rt-rote (red) Sorry about the spelling of some german terms my memory is fading. |

Thanks for the help. I'll try reversing the green and black. No wonder I was blowing fuses messing with the red.
