Singing Heat Shield

Car is 87 300SDL (126.125)

Is there a heat shield over the rear muffler? Something sounds tinny and loose back there. Thumping the trunk floor on the left side of the spare tre well produces a tinny, fuzzy noise; so does hitting a bump in the road. Tapping the bottom of the rear muffler doesn't make a sound, so I'm thinking some form of heat shield is loose. I'd get down on the ground and look up there, but we have about 8" of snow on the ground. Anybody else have a problem like this?
