My W123 now on eBay...

...since a W115's been added to the stables, there's not enough room! Take a look if a reasonably clean, strong-running early 300D is interesting to you.

Sweet looking car, but why do you have your auction running in the "Everything Else" category? I would think that you'd get far more hits running it under the "300 series Mercedes" category...
Maybe you can move it before someone bids on it??? I would think you'd want to list the car where the most people can find it easily.

Good Luck.

Yeah, I know Tjohn - but at only $5 for a misc. listing, I figured I'd give it a try before going for the $50 ebaymotors route

dieseldude:

Just when I was harmlessly looking at the forum and minding my own business. You go and post a 'red' one on there. Just after I went from 5 of these puppies to 4. You go and do it.

What a cool car. I've been looking for red for sometime. Here is a problem. Michigan and Washington. And I'm fresh out of desire for another road trip. Just yanked one back from VA.

You have me thinking however. How bad is that injection pump timing issue? Does it exhaust unburned fuel and cloud the heavens?

'Shadowfax'. I like it.

Hah deiseldon, I know the feeling - I'm selling Red because of a 240D I couldn't pass up! The IP timing is the the last thing the engine needs to run really well. I forgot to mention in the auction that it has a new set of (Bosch rebuilds) injectors, and I've updated the glow-plugs to the later pencil-type for faster glowing.

It does smoke some on cold starts and at random times idling at a stop light, but nothing that would hide your house behind a smokescreen in the morning. Drove it to work today actually, after a 30-sec glow it started right up (upper 20's for temps), smoked for a few seconds until the idle smoothed out.

Hope that helps, let me know if you have any more questions...

Regards,
- Ryan

I have a 240D Manual for one of my daughters and we love it. But my next girl wants an automatic and I think I'm better off with a 300. Tell me more about the rust situation. Where has this car lived?

I'm in the same boat as my buddy, Diesel Don, living in Michigan.

My daughter did, however, start the bidding. We are up to $2.25 already! I noticed that we didn't meet the reserve yet.

Just an observation. Looking in the pics, it looks like the front seats are black, and the rear is tan. Am I correct on this? I may just out bid the $2.25...

Dap - the car has been a Pacific Northwest Car for at least the last 15 years, if memory serves, it was a So Cal car before that (but I don't remember exactly what the title history said). So no salt, but plenty of rain and moisture. I think that's why there's some rust, but not much. The jack points are very secure, and structurally the car is fine. I assume the bubble at the base of the windshield was from a past leaky seal, but both the front and rear windshield have what appear to be fairly new seals now.

The car has had a re-spray at some time, so I'm guessing that's where the rear fender bubbles are coming from. The trunk lid rust is likely from the aged trunk seal which I have yet to replace.

Vokl, you're correct, the front seats are a different color, which I thought I mentioned in the listing. A 'husky' gentleman drove the car before me and I'm assuming he wore-out the first set, and then these black ones instead of bothering to change seat springs in the orginals.

Regards,
- Ryan

Wow

That is the exact color of my '79TD, sure would make a nice addition. If I had 2K handy, I'd be tempted to take the buy it now option. I'll watch and see what happens.

Back up!

My 300D now relisted with lower buy-it-now price (reserve is the same, but still lower than the buy-it-now price!)

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=10368&item=2406164006\

I should note that while ACC doesn't work, the blower fan and heat works great in all modes

- Ryan

I like it

I'd like to have it, but to get it from +- 4,000 miles away would probably cost me almost as much as the car (I'm in E. TN.). If I had that baby, then I could look for a red coupe and have all three body styles, but now I'm getting greedy!

2200 miles away. Just studied the map.

Trying to figure it out and nothing is coming to mind.

Really?

I haven't checked, but I'd have guessed a lot farther. Still a pretty car, though. I'll bet it would make it on its own steam with out skipping a beat.

If you have a regular email, I'll send you a pic of the red wagon. I never learned to post pic's to this site.

Great Boob:

I was referring to 2200 miles to Michigan

Map chart shows about 2070 from Seattle to Chicago and I tacked on another 130 or so.

I fly coast to coast quite a bit, and it's generally 2,500 - 2,600 miles by air from L.A. to the East Coast.
