trading the 300CD

Got back from the local Mercedes dealership a few hours ago.

I took my 83 300CD and 02 Acura for a trade in on a E320.
They couldn't give me a price for the CD. The manager claimed that it's a collector's car and he does not know the value and he has to research it and call me back. They also told me that they will pay me $2000 below the trade in value for the Acura. Ouch, I guess I should put them in the local paper and see what I can get for them.

maybe I should take it off your hand

how much are you looking to get for it? Everything works right? including the cool rear windows, sunroof, and A/C?

You should keep the 300CD, and try selling the Acura yourself.

I agree...Why would you get rid of a nice 300CD?

Yes Holson, everything works. The windows are tempermental as you saw at the GTG. If you are serious about it, check it out and if there is anything that needs to be addressed I will take care of it.
As for the price, I don't really know what the fair value of the car is. I bought it from Hatch&Sons last year and I probably over paid for it. I guess something that will make both of us happy.

As the reason for getting rid of it, I love the car. I have only driven it for 2000 miles since I got it. So, it's just seating there all the time. I don't have the time nor am I mechanically talented to work on it. Lastly, I am in the Army reserves and it appears that I might be getting activated. Since, my wife does not drive it, I don't really feel comfortable leaving it with her for god knows how long.

Tom, let that 300CD rest in the garage. The window problem you had is probably only the connections are corroded. Nothing sandpaper can't fix. Add some Stanadyne into the tank and let her sleep in the garage. :-)

300CD

Tom,
If you do really need to sell the CD, let me know, I'm in the market. Are you in the New England area? I ask because of the mention of Hatch & Sons. Anyway, consider it. Hope you don't get called up.
