126 Vacuum help
Got a call from a friend that just got a "82" 300SD and he has a vacuum problem. he said that this car has an ELECTRIC selector switch in the drivers door that controls the locks. I was not aware there was such a thing, thought they were all vacuum selectors like in my 240D. Could any of you 126 owners shed some light on this system if it is indeed different?

Steve, 126's have a trunk mounted vacuum pump thats operates the door, trunk and filler locks, when you turn the key in the drivers door it activates the pump which then locks/unlocks the other 3 doors.

Bob H. is right on the mark. The rear mounted vac. pump (expensive) does the locking/unlocking.

Thanks jrfreeman & Bob
So there IS an ELECTRIC selector switch in the drivers door that is supplied by this pump in the trunk for the doors. I think it is this switch he is having trouble with and I was wondering if he was not looking at the wrong switch. Thanks much, this guy has helped me out allot. Have a good day

The pump provides vacuum (so to speak) to lock and pressure to unlock. There is only one line to each actuator.
