Electrical Problem where do I start?

I have a 1983 300SD and was driving at night the other day. I drove through a puddle and noticed that my parking brake, brake and glow plug lights went on for a few seconds. Keeping my eye on this for the rest of the trip I noticed that every time I went through water the same thing happened. Has anyone experienced this ? Where should I start looking? Thank you Dennis

I had a toyota that all the dash lights would come on then go out intermittently. I replaced the alternator and it fixed the problem.

belt slippage

I agree thats it's most likely belt slippage. Replace them if older than 2 years. How long since voltage regulator replacement?

If the alt. dash light comes on when it's dry out you may want to consider checking the brushes on the voltage regulator.
