1985 300sd electrical problem fuse box

Have a 1985 300sd thats draining the battery. Put a light
on the negative side of battery to negative cable and started
pulling fuse's. Got to Number 15 and it went out, and a relay
clicked, also in the fuse box. Lost my manual and need info
on what number 15 controls. The number on relay is SR9850
or part number 001-542 0219. Any help????????

For what it's worth, my battery(same year car) was draining every 3 or 4 days, especially when using A/C. Checked all fuses and nothing.

Put a alt/battery tester on her and turned out the alternator wasn't putting out enough juice to keep the battery charged up. Changed the voltage regulator and problem has been solved.

Good luck

1985 300sd electrical problem fuse box

Have put a digital voltage meter on the battery while running
and its putting out around 14.00 volts. The bulb I put in series on the negative side of the battery, to the negative cable should not come on. That means there is a drain on the battery. When I pull number 15 fuse in the box, the bulb goes out. So something is screwed up on it. The car was in the body shop, just before the trouble started, so I am starting to think they botched something. But I still want to find out what number 15 fuse controls. So if somebody has a factory manual, please enlighten us. Also the relay number I had in the first post is clicking, when the fuse is pulled.

# 15 fuse

If my cd manual is correct # 15 fuse controls the following

1. trunk light

2. power seats

3. automatic antenna

4. warning system

5. courtesy lights

6. anti-theft alarm system

that is quite a list, since your car was in the body shop maybe you can narrow down the problem area. good luck.

Thanks RSH. I did notice that the Courtesy lights did work
before going to body shop. So I will start there. And maybe
even hassle them about it. Thanks again.
