Both diesels:

RedLine 15W-40D(Diesel)
Change 8-10,000 miles depending upon city/highway miles

RedLine actually recommends changes at 10-12,000 miles but I just can't bring myself to wait that long.

190D 2.2 (201-601.921)
Delo 400 oil,
3.5 to 5k miles depending on conditions.

Wix filter's so far, plan to try Baldwin if app is available.
Filter every other oil change: unless really dusty, etc.

(At least the MB cost's less then half of what the oil change cost's on my KTM's.)

Always used regular Castrol GTX on everything.
Fairlane: 10W-30, 3K
E150: 10W-40, 3-5K
Escort: 5W-30, 5K
Civic: 5W-20, 7.5K
F100: 10W-30, when I feel guilty about it (it's not driven that much)
On the Fords I always use Motorcraft filters, they're made by Purolator and are almost the same as the Purolator premium filter. I avoid anything that says Fram or Pennzoil.

not to start a debate but...

First:

1984 300sd Delo 15w40 every 3k mi. w/ new filter
2002 VW Golf TDI Amsoil 5w30 every 5k mi. w/ new filter.

Now here we go:

I've noticed that the survey results show that quite a few of us are split between using 5w40 and 15w40 in our old diesels. What are the benefits and drawbacks between these weights?
Also, is it necessary to change the filter every time you change the oil? I do it just for cheap insurance.
