Late Model Diesel Question

Hi I'm a new guy. I just started looking at Mercedes diesels as a lark and find that it's all very interesting. I noticed that the mid-eighties models are a favorite here.

I like the looks of the early nineties 300SD and I see that it had a 6 cylinder turbo. I've seen numbers indicating that it puts out 150 hp and 245 ft lbs; does that sound right? I'm wondering if these motors are intercooled. I'd like to find out what kind of performance is produced by those cars ( 0-60 times and 1/4 mile in particular). Also are there any performance enhancements for these motors?

Thanks For the Heads-up!

I thought the 300SD was discontinued in 1994 and no other diesels were being imported! I'm glad to learn about the e 300, especially since it weighs about a thousand pounds less than the SD. The E class looks like a great platform. It also looks like I could buy a 1998 or 1999 for about the price of a new Accord. I think I'd rather have the 5 year old Merc!
