Large auto parts emporiums usually carry conductive paint specifically for defogger repair. Call first.

Repairing Rear Defogger wires

jjalex asked about the actual finding of the breaks in the defogger wires.......

You'll need to use a multimeter set on the low ohms range (say less than 2 ohms) to detect the break.

Start by poking the probes at the extreme left and right of the wire array, where the wires come in from the switch.

Measure the risistance there, and slowly slide one of the probes along the suspect wire until there is an abrupt change in resistance, say from 1 ohm to 0.5 ohm. This should be the point of the break, and should show itself as a scratch or break. It's normally caused by shuting the door on some luggage, or even by the dog scratching it with his paws!

Once you have located the break, clean it up by light rubbing with "wet and dry" or similar, and apply the silver loaded paint very carefully with a fine brush.

When that's dry you should be able to measure with the meter that the break has now been fixed.

Now go on to the other breaks. With a bit of paitence, it should be possible to get every wire working again.

Sorry to say that in England, this stuff is available just about everywhere..........

Some electrionic hobbyshops sell this silver-loaded paint for repairing the keybords on remote controls, they might be worth a try.

Good luck....

helpful post Paul, Thanks!

Nicely outlined as to tracing and then fixing.
Thanks

Thanks for the great instructions.

I was able to find a kit with the paint at an Autozone store.

Nappa, Checker, and even SherwinWilliams didn't even have a clue...

BWATSON,

That timer relay is located behind the instrument cluster and connects to connector C-104 which is right next to the E brake. It stays on for 30 minutes unless you shut the car off. It sounds like the relay is defective or mpnye is correct about the fuse. The fuse acting as he or she indicates is a distinct posibility.

You can get a small bottle of copper based paint from Pep Boys, probably other similar auto stores. Comes with a brush cap like nail polish. As suggested earlier, best bet is to look closely for breaks in the wires that aren't working, mask with tape and paint over the wire to complete the circuit. Kind of hit or miss but it works.
