hey !

im about to change oil in my Aut-transmission gearbox, but not sure which oil and quality i should choose, im thinking of Castrol TQ Dexron III, or Shell Donax TA...
ofcourse im changing filter in gearbox...

... i almost forgot.. my gearbox is from a -88 300D.

Dunno about either of those, are they synthetic?? Use Mobil1 atf myself with good results. I didn't realize the "euro" look really IS clear corner markers, chrome fender accents and fat rims. Straight pimpin'!! With the sun shining that pic could be south Miami not Sweden.... RT

Last time I changed the transmission fluid I drained the trans and the torque converter and installed Mobil One synthetic. Get faster shifts now. Should wear longer.

Porque? (WHY?)

yel_low 03-08-2003 07:00 PM

it aint Recommended by MBZ to use it, camshaft and hydraulic "pushers" doesent feel nice with it, part synthetic is better, iva also been told by MBZ here in sweden that the cylinder walls getting "glassed" with compression lose as effect,

i only use PART synthetic 10w40 oil in my engine

as usual im bad att writing english sorry...
'=)

Just did mine and used Amsoil which is pure synthetic. Took right at 6.75 qts to fill it up. Car shifts like it never has before, all for the better.

BLING, BLING, BLING!!

Aaron 03-09-2003 08:43 PM

Niklas,

I use Agip fluids at my workshop. For transmissions, I use Dexron III/Mercon and for oil I use either 10W-40 mineral for the old cars or 5W-40 fully synthetic for the '98 and newer MBs.

Agip lubricants should be widely available over in your neck of the woods.

yel_low 03-10-2003 10:16 AM

Agip is not availeble here in sweden, we have the following brands as u can DAILY find on gas station and more places

Shell
Texaco
Mobil
Castrol
Statoil
Q8
Motul

i have forgotten one or two brands i think but ill dont remember them now so =)
