Question Block Heating

When I bought my 300D Turbo ('84), I looked through the records and apparently a block heater had been installed. I looked under the grill and I can see what looks like an outlet, but the car didn't come with a cord. Can I get one of these off of Fastlane? Also, my car runs pretty cold during the winter, rarely getting between 40 and 80 on the gauge. If I heat it up before hand, will it run warmer?

part of your question- no the block heater will not make your car run any warmer or colder once it reaches operating temperature. it certainly will ease cold starting and the car should warm up faster. if the temp. only reached 40 to less than 80 deg on the dash gauge you need to replace the thermostat. it's not good for the engine to run so cool no matter what the season.

I'd call Phil at the fastlane number for the cord only. Toll free and you're in business.

You'll enjoy the block heater. I use 4 of them every night in Michigan

tried it today

without the block heater.

11 deg F/ -11.6 deg C
glowed for 45 seconds after the glow plug light went out
engine started first crack but was not a happy camper for a few minutes until things smoothed out
