I am looking for a used overdrive transmission to fit a 1987diesel Suburban 2 wheel drive, with a rebuilt (from Motorworks in Manasquan NJ, 60,000 miles on it) 6.2 liter diesel engine. Don't want to spend much money but my son is acquiring the Suburban (for free). It gets about 28 miles/gallon, needs the transmission and an exhaust pipe from th engine to the muffler. I,m told that the pipe is about $60.00. It also needs some cosmetic work but that should keep a college kid busy over the summer. The car performs well on the highway, tracks straight and has good shocks. There is a mechanic in the donating family and he performed all the maintenance on the car over the years.

My son is going to Cornell and studying Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering. Finally, a rocket scientist in the family!!! His ride home will be all highway miles. About 4 1/2 hours. Without a car I don't see him as often as I would like. His sister wrecked his other ride a 1989 Volvo 740 Wagon so i'm also looking for front end parts for that car.

Any help or thoughts would be appreciated.
