123 240D Wheel Alignment Data
Would anyone kindly let me know the specifications/ data of wheel alignment of 1977 123 series 240-D. I have tried to have the wheels aligned but I am not satisfied as the car either pulls to left or right and is never straight. Thnx

My daughter drives our 1982 240D in Troy, NY which is kind of like the originating site for the street virus that causes potholes. She brought the car home last weekend to have our local front end guru align it as, even though she tries not to, she has hit a few good potholes and the car started pulling and making noises driving over bumps. Long story short (shorter?), the front end man put the car up on a lift, stuck a crow bar in a choice location and gave a jerk. The wheel moved. He repeated the process in a few other locations on both sides, put the car down and told us he would not work on the front end until either he replaced the driver's side upper control arm and bushing, or they were replaced by another, as the front end would not stay aligned. So, seeing as it is fierce weather out here and I have no garage, I had him do the job. Picked the car up today and the steering is fine. Still have some groans and crunches over bumps, but the steering is tight and straight. The point is, if you have unreliable results getting the front end aligned there may be some worn parts affecting the stability of any adjustments made. Per the printout on my daughter's car, the W123 specs are: Camber: -0.3 to +0.2 degrees Caster: 7.8 to 8.8 degrees Toe (each side): 0.13 to 0.29 degrees Toe (total): 0.25 to 0.58 degrees Good luck and I hope this helps. Not that Jim's answers would ever need any added support... but Larry B and myself have been trying to tell people for a while that anything other than just a toe in without the front end being in Pretty darn good condition... is just an illusion.... and costly... That was exactly what the mechanic should have said and done.
