Angry 190d Tranny Prob

Hi all you MB specialists,

Just wanted to ask you about my transmission. Recently I broke an axle shaft on my 1986 190D 2.5 because one of its tires spun fast on ice and it caught traction. I replaced the axle shaft and all and i went for a testdrive with the car and for some reason i dont seem to get 3rd and fourth gears on the car. There is no transmission slippage or flaring as u guys call it. However if you the car is floored at a stop it will only stay in first and also if its in second and im past 50 km/h and floor it it will jump into neutral. There is oil in the transmission, i made sure i put extra and i set the modulator pressure higher just to see if it would stirr things up and it didnt.

Any clues???
I appreciate any advice

Thanks

Guys can you please help

I dont know what to do
Would a modulator adjustment do the trick because i read some articles on modulator adjustments. I replaced this transmission 3 years ago with a rebuilt one. To tighten up the modulator pressure do i have to turn clockwise or counterclockwise??

Please help

MB transmissions and I belive automatic transmissions in general don't like extra oil. First order of business is to get it down to the proper level.

I don't think adjusting the modulator will solve your problem since it doesn't seem that you're complaining about the firmness or crispness of the shifts.

Make sure the bowden cable is properly set and make sure the kickdown switch under the accelerator pedal is stuck.

When my 300SE transmission started doing the second to neutral thing, it was time for a rebuild.

Your problem is NOT the modulator . . .

The GOVERNOR is what's causing NO upshifts . . .

It may just be stuck . . .

Where is the governor located in this transmission
it would help i think you are absolutely right
my theory is somthing is stuck or at worse broken
but it is somtething very small its not the whole transmission
because it was working fine and after my axle shaft break, then it started not to work like this.

So if you can help me locate this governor on this transmission
i would be very happy.

Thanks alot guys i thought nobody would answer

I LUV U if u solve my problem
