progress on 300SD vibration dampener
Today was an overall successfull day, but I ran into quite a few problems. The first main problem was trying to loosen the auxilery stuff enough to take the belts off. The second came when the very last of the six allen head bolts stripped out. I was referred to an "on the road repair" guy, and he pulled the stripped bolt for 40 bucks. Granted, thats alot to unscrew a bolt, but to me it was money well spent. I still havn't gotten the compressor belt off, but all six bolts are now out, and awaiting the arival of my new dampener(should be arriving tomarrow), i should be able to get that belt off and finish it up tomarrow.

That dampener is a balancer and putting another one on with out balancing is not a good idea.
You should take it to an automotive machine shop and have it drilled the same as the original. P E H |

that is interesting, i was under the impression that the balancer itself needed to be balanced, but the vibration dampener did not. I got this information from the tech manual, but if there is something i'm missing please clue me in. Thanks
