well i check it up with my local dealer about the oil =) last time i asked half year ago they did not RECCOMEND FULLY SYNTHETIC...

YOUR dealer does NOT agree with official documentation from MB(USA).

That doesn't mean syn fluids will trash the engine!

they say the camshaft and "pushers?" dont like synthetic, that the camshaft would be WORN , and the cylinders will be like GLASSED surface...

ive tried Fully Synthetic oil 5w40, but it just dissapeared.. the engine started consume oil..


but now it is newly rebuild so =) maybe it works better? new oversized pistons and bored 0.5mm... =) it works really fine now =)

Hey

I have no clue what the rattle is. It comes from the fan area of the engine and it sounds like a slight weird ticking at idle. I use 1/4 of a quart of oil every 3000 miles, have a great amount of power (for a 240D) and only a little smoke when I really bang her from a stop. Apparently its not the chain, have to have it checked at next adjustment
