oil leak at muffler joint

Looking under my car, I see oil dripping from the joint between the two mufflers parts. The 300D Turbo exhaust through the muffler? Uninitiated mechanic question: is this something to be worried about or is this the leak you find in the W123 over time.

I am sure your oil filter stand gasket is leaking, and then the oil is getting onto this joint. Or you might have a leak somewhere else. How much oil are you using/losing? You should probally replace the oil filter stand gasket if it is leaking. I just replaced mine the other day, and it you can do it in a afternoon. Just make sure to replace all the gaskets. I think it cost me less than $5 for the gaskets. Oh, and be careful with the oil cooler lines. Here is the link on how to do it: Oil leaks fixed!

It's a slow drip when I turn off the car for a few minutes, then it stops. It leaves an annoying oil stain on the driveway.

It the oil filter stand gasket is leaking, would it just leak from that area and not get into the muffler joints? Where else could a leak originate asnd get into this joint? I don't have any drips fron the front engine compartment.

EGR

You could also be getting oil leaking down through the egr valve.

Is it blocked off?

On heavy throttle i.e. climbing a long grade I get an oil leak at my egr connection that hits the exhaust manifoild.

Thanks, I'll have to get a BB to block off the EGR valve, if it's still leaking, I'll change the filter gaskets although that looks like many hours!
