Auxiliary Water Pump 84 300SD

I have an 84 300SD and it appears that the Auxiliary water pump is leaking. Can this unit be checked for function. If so how?
IF not how does one remove this unit. Appers to be in a tight fitting area.

On that car, they are tough to access, but you should just buy a new one & replace it if it is leaking.

Probably around $78.00, plus the new hoses (right )
