thanks to rwthomas and spo123

i would have never known how a w123 trans 'should' shift if i had not had the opportunity to drive rwt's awsome 300d

so it got me to thinking on the way back from the gtg. then all systems died (would not shut off, no door locks, no acc.. u know the drill..
it was necessary to get into the system. spo was saying essentially make sure the source is good first. I had brakes so
i figured vacuum pump good, and double checked at the pump side of the line.

something i was reading a while back suggested drill out the T fittings on the booster line - took a small drill bit and drilled out the two fitting in the middle of the line being careful not to go through the other side!.
put everything back together and voila ! - ultra smooth shifts
(quite like your car rwt) door locks, acc all working and last but certainly not least car shuts down immediately.

without this site and the people here i would have no doubt spent a lot getting this fixed by a mechanic vs. my cost = free.

thanks again guys + all the best / bob

Bob,
No need to thank me, I get satisfaction enough just knowing you got it figured out. Congratulations and enjoy! I bet you didn't even buy a vacuum gauge, did you? :-) RT

Cool rwt,

no i did not get a vaccum guage, hehe. i guess the trans had not been getting any vacuum at all for the 7.5 years i have owned the car - i just thought that was the way it was .. that is until i drove yours

i feel like i missed out a bit, duh, but on the bright side if i liked the w123 before i like it even more now !

think it just needs a bit of fine tuning with the bowden cable to make it real nice :p
