300D in Orlando

I have an 85 300D with 177K that needs an A/C compressor. It is in good condition and everything else but the CC and the power ant. works. I bought the car 2 yrs ago from the original owner and have replaced lots of A/C parts, 1 rear axle, starter, brakes, tires, thermostat, climate control, radiator, steering shock, etc. Can anyone tell me what is it worth?

Thanks for any help,
Clay

It will be worth more with a working a/c . Search around on ebay for this model and you can get a pretty good idea for what you can get for them. It helps to have a rust free example. It seems ones in fair shape start at around $1500.

For what it is worth

I recently bought a 1985 300TD wagon for $3000, with a new radio and everything working except the rear washer, wiper and antenna. It had 178K. I consider that a bargain.

That AC could cost $1000-1500 to repair at a shop, less if you replace the parts yourself from a salvage yard.

If you were in Manitoba, more people wouldmn't care about the AC than in Orlando.

Check www.kbb.com www. edmunds.com and www.nada.com for their prices. nada is always higher, because dealers worry more about lying to the state to save a few bucks on the sales tax.

My opinion is that the wagons may have reached the bottom in prices and after this the good ones will appreciate a bit every year. Many people tell me that they have paid $4000-$5000 for one in good shape.

Leave a message on this forum, under "cars" it's free and I found it very useful.
