Where to buy tools for valve lash (clearance) adjustment on MB diesel cars.

Does someone know a good place (retail or online) place that sells valve lash adjustment tools for MB diesel car (e.g. 240D) at cheap prices

Maybe I'm just cheap, heh, but I don't see how those are worth it. I easily make due with a couple normal wrenches in adjusting it, I mean it is only supposed to be done every 15k miles. Isn't like I'll be using them all the time or anything. I just use a normal feeler gauge that can be found at any parts store for the measurements.

If you insist, I believe the guy at: www.**************.com sells the wrenches, or you can find them on ebay sometimes from that guy too.

I expect that you can buy through the Parts Shop on this great site. Just look at the top of the page and click on Parts Shop.

You can get by with regular wrenches, but it is a real PITA. Other alternative is to get two cheap 14MM wrenches from that bucket that is on the counter at the foreign parts store. Heat and bend them to shape.

I have done the valve adjust many times on my 300SDs and I didn't need the special wrenches.

One Cavet Emptor: Make sure you get the valve lock nut tight if you don't want the engine to eat a valve. It happened to me when someone else did a valve job on my 220D. It really destroyed the engine.

Alright, here's an idea. I have the factory 3 wrench set for setting the valves. You PayPal me $100 and I send them to you Priority Mail. You send them back to me and I send you back your money by PayPal. Does that sound fair? I wish someone had given me this deal on the rear wheel bearing socket when I needed it, then I wouldn't have had to grovel at the local profit-center. PM or E-mail me if this is something you're interested in. :)

Eric,

Make sure you measure the valve clearance before you loosen any of the valve nuts. Last time I did a valve adjust job on my '79 300SD, none of the valves need adjustment after 25,000 miles since last time that were adjusted. That made the job a lot easier.

I suggest you get .003, .005, .013 and .015 inch feeler gages and use them as go, nogo gages to measure first and maybe you won't need any wrenches.
