injector bypass fitting leaks
Several of the injector bypass fittings/nipples leak. I have used MB hose and still very wet on top of injector. Does anyone know how tubes are connected to body or how to fix leak? Are they pressed in from the outside?
Thanks JD 1987 300SDL (finally running) |

Drivfour,
To repair mine, I just slipped the new hose over the nipples. Are you sure you have the correct MB fabric covered hose? P E H |

Make sure you don't have some remnants of the old hose stuck to the injector at the base of the fittings -- we replaced the hoses on my brother's SDL the other day, and they were do hard they snapped like glass. The weren't leaking, but talk about brittle!
Took some work to get the bits off the nipples, and I had to trim a new hose that I tried to install before I realized the nipple weren't clean -- the stuff stuck there was so hard it split the hose! New hoses must be pushed down flush to the body of the injector or they leak. I find that using a pair of needle nosed pliers to graps the hose and push it on works best, finger power will often leave the hose too far up on the nipple. If the return nipple is actually leaking, you need to replace the nozzle holder, the nipples are welded on. Peter
