What are problems with late 126 or early 140 350 SDL's

I am considering buying a late 126 or early 140 350 SDL but have seen posts here indicating that the 350 engine has problems. Does anyone have first hand knowledge of these engines and what are the risks? I see alot of 92- 93 SDL for a good price but don't want to dump alot of $$ into the engine soon after I buy it.
Are the realy that bad???

Try a search on "350SD/SDL" or "bent connecting rods" and you should find enough to help you out. Jim

I disagree. It only has one potentially major problem more than a comparable 126 or 140.

I wouldn't rule out the 350's. If one came along with a freshly rebuilt engine, I would consider it. Only the 126 cars though, and it would need a fresh engine that had ALL of the updated parts.

On second thought, I would just buy a 560sel and be happy.

Don't forget about the suspension problems and evaporator failures on early W140's.
