Please take a look at this...
I'm really sorry to double post this, but you guys know the W123 cars better than anyone else. I'm really hesistant to drive this car anywhere with this noise present. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.
I should add that the inner inner lip (where it folds in towards the wheel well) is bent up a little, but so is the other side in exactly the same way. There are no apparent rub spots but I'll take another look just to make sure tomorrow. Clack Clack Clack.... wheel rubbing? Alex

My bet is those "generic 5mm spacers." Mercedes-Benz uses hub centric wheels, meaning the hub bears the weight of the car and not the lug bolts. Something like this was posted recently with the result being a broken lug bolt. You can extrapolate from there.
