Transmission Additives
I've seen numerous references in this forum to the wonders of "Trans-X". I've checked Walmart & Auto Zone, and neither stock it. I'm in Richmond, VA. Has anyone ever used something else like Slick 50 High Mileage Additive? I can buy Trans-X online, however, I'm trying to tend to my tranny on my 84D this weekend.

suprised you have not had a response. if the responses do arrive i believe they will be of the type that suggest that before you do anything approaching 'snake oil' type treatments, you first drain transmission and torque converter, change filter and refill to proper level. some may say to spend a few extra dollars and treat the bugger to mobil 1 synthetic trannysmission fluid. in any case this thought will get the topic to the top of the page and perhaps someone who knows what they are talking about will respond. notice i did not ask what caused you to ask this qustion. that be for experts.

Although most snake-oil like products should be avoided, I agree with leathermang on this one that Trans-X is really good stuff. If you want it now, then try shopping the other auto parts stores. As much as I hate them, Poop Boys is usually good for this kind of stuff.
If you get it and use it, then be sure to change the fluid and get the Trans-X out after it has done its job.
