Rick,

That site shows a great selection of MB CDI chips, but nothing for a prior generation, non-CDI engine. They seem to universally get a 20% hp boost and about 15% on torque. Pretty impressive.

I guess I will have to imagine what the chip will do to an E320CDI (boosting to 230hp/405 ft.lbs) when I test drive one after they show up at the local dealership. I test drove an E500 and found it quite nice (302 hp/339 ft.lbs). Now to reproduce that performance and get 35 mpg would be sensational. Thanks, Jim

Rick,

After going a little further into the site I found a chip for my car too. It is not as aggressive as the chip for the newer cars, adding about 10% or so to hp and torque. The cost is nearly the same too, so dollars per unit of improvement are higher. Still, the chip gets hp up to the stock 3.2 CDI, but leaves torque a whopping 70 ft. lbs. shy. Could be interesting. Thanks, Jim
