Thumbs up 6.3

Aaron,
Good luck with your new screamer! Is the color black or dark green? The two of the better colors. Keep it under 100....well, oncein a while anyway.

Best wishes.
Spo.

Color is DB904 Navy Blue. Oddly enough, same as my 6.9 is!

Interior is also dark blue.

That is just gorgeous...... I don't know what else to say.

It looks really good in that color. I haven't seen a dark blue W116. Especially not a 6.9!

Wow.... don't forget side by side pictures!

Have fun with it.. not too much though hehehe

Wow! That's a jaw-dropper! She looks like she's been someone's baby. How many miles?

90K original miles. This car has been well cared for but the owner (a customer) just got tired of the intensive maintenance routine and got smart and bought a Porsche Boxster. I think in the past four years the car has had over $12K put into it. Star Motors up in New York (they are the 6.3, 6.9 and 600 experts) did tons of work on it a few years back. So now I've two M-100s in the stable and both happen to be my favorite color, 904 Blue!

Aaron,

Great find!

I thought I would share this with you. I was at Hockenheim for a Formula II race in the spring of 1971. When you go to those races, they have sports car and stock car races before the Formula I or Formula II main event although most people don't bother showing early to watch them. In a production car race there was a 6.3 just like yours and there was also an American GI in a new Z28. The 6.3 won the race. It was really crazy watching the extreme roll of the 6.3 in the sharp turns, but the guy obviously knew what he was doing and had enough air in the tires. It almost looked like the inboard rear was going to come off the ground, but that big thing hung on. It was great to watch.

Enjoy,

Larry,

Haha, I bet the guy in the Camaro was a tad bit confused about how a two ton Mercedes just spanked him! Well this will no doubt be tough to keep the fun to a minimum with, but that's why I've got a Valentine One!

That is one beautiful piece of machinery! I remember reading in Popular Mechanics about this car, something about it having about the same horsepower as a Ford Thunderbird of the same year. I guess those German horses work harder!

Well, Fredmburgess, with 6.3 liters, 300 hp and 434 ft-lbs of torque, fast does not really describe it.

Since the 6.9's license plate reads "JEKL HYD" I will now need to come up with something appropriate for the 6.3. Any thoughts?

Maybe "DYNOMYT"
