oil filters

Anyone ever hear of OE+ Oil Filters?

Good?
Bad?
Average?

Thanks,

I have only heard of them through this site. I would just stick with REAL OEM filters, Hengst, Mann and Knecht. I tend to avoid products that have names that are play on words as "OE". If it was real OE it would be one of the one's I mentioned.

Those letters have been so overused that its hard to figure out what they mean anymore.

OE means Original Equipment. This can only be one thing - a genuine Mercedes-Benz part in the blue box with the star on it.

OEM means Original Equipment Manufacturer - made by a company that is contracted to supply the specified part to Mercedes-Benz, but distributed outside of M-B channels. Remember, just because a particular company supplies parts to Mercedes-Benz, doesn't mean that ALL of their parts are OEM. Oil filters from Bosch come to mind.

Advice from people in the know on this board is to stick with the three real OEM filter suppliers, which are listed in the response above. Anything else is false economy.

The oil filter cannister on the diesels looks like it was made for a roll of toilet paper. Anyone use that?

Don't mind me, I'm just bored and wanted to start an oil filters war...... :)

Hmmm, have we ever had a filter war? Oil wars, of course. But I don't recall a filter controversy.

As long as we're tossing out alternate suggestions, how about stuffing the cannister full used Kleenex? Why waste a perfectly good roll of TP when you could recycle Kleenex after you have a cold.
