Looking For a Dealer

I am starting a search for a "perfect" 82~85 W123 300D. I ask the group members if you know of any good dealers basically anywhere in the US that specialize in this and related models. I am looking for a 300D, SD or even an 87 SDL, the "D" is the most important part. Essentially I am expecting and willing to pay a premium price for the right car. I have my current 83 which although a pretty decent car it needs a lot of fixing up to be a great car and in truth I'm just not willing to spend the necessary money to fix the thing. I plan to keep it as my daily heavy commuter/winter beater but want a nice one to use around town and for vacation trips. I've been all over the Internet, found lots of cars, lots of dealers but I expect some of you have had hopefully good experiences with some of the dealers nationwide. That being said, I'll still cruise around e-bay and autotrader in the search. Any information is greatly appreciated.

I got mine from a dealer in Raleigh, NC on Ebay. When I went to pick up the car everything on this guys lot was really nice and clean. He gets trades from a large dealer near him. I will see if I can find his name/address if you want. RT

rm - you will not find one that starts/runs as good as this one. It is not "perfect" because it needs a paint job but you will not find one that runs/drives out any better.

I have my 300SD serviced (regularly) at Hatch and Sons in Wayland, MA. They always have pristine and low mileage cars on their lot, and occasionally have a few older diesels. They recently had a beautiful 300CD with something like 35,000 miles on it. Their cars are typically very expensive (usually around $20k), but for someone serious about fine Mercedes and excellent service, it might be worth checking out.

Lee Scheeler once claimed to know a broker who could get just about anything you wanted, even down to the correct color. I haven't seen a post from him in a long time, so I don't know if he's still around.

Try a search on his username, or a private message to Benzmac or Webmaster. He used to work with/for Donnie and Bill.

Nice TD engatwork! I would feel pretty confident buying a car from a board member, particularly a moderator. Anyone here is "in the know" about MB's and the cars usually reflect it. Wish I had the $$$ for it. RT
