Koni???? Worth it if there cheap???
Well I am in the process of changing out the rear shocks on my 300D, and I came across a deal on front Koni shocks. I know Koni shocks at fairly decent quality, but I have only used them for a '66 Mustang. These would be considerably cheaper than Bilstein.
Any thoughts on Koni??? I put Boge in on the rear.

No idea about how Koni's would be on your car, but if it was me, I would stay with the same shock at all 4 points.

Yea I would pick up Boge fronts but I haven't come across a good deal yet. I would have done bilstein all around but it is hard to justify spending the money since I picked up the car for $1000 and I went back to school full time recently (money's tight).

Stick with the Bilsteins if you can afford it, then go to Boge or KYB if you can't afford the Bilsteins. The Koni's are going to probally be more than the Bilsteins

Thanks for the advice 123c.
Nice chop... I'll be going the same way some day (I'll never do the comb over).

Finished up finals this week... whew. Rough week. I did my front shocks last night. They are new old stock Konis. Picked them up for ~50 with shipping for the pair. While they were cheap I did need to use the brackets on the old shocks. They were riveted in and need persuasion via the drill. Not exactly bolt on but worth the saved money. My old shocks were SHOT. She rides very nicely now, with little to no front end dive during braking.
So on to the next project brakes... I noticed another post the steering box adjustment. Is this applicable to my w115?

Steering adjustment is about the same on a W115, but if it just feels loose and the wheel rattles and snaps on bumps, its not the box, it's the coupler between the column and box -- there are two rubber bushings in there that vanish, leaving excess play.
Tie rod ends can be bad, too, check those. Peter

Thanks I will check the bushings and tie rod ends when I get a chance to do my brakes. Maybe tomorrow or next weekend. I know this will be a novice question but am I just looking for excessive play in the tie rod ends (that I can tighten up), or looking to see if they have become wore out. I have never found a bad tie rod end on one of my cars. I know this is common among old cars, guess I have been lucky so far.
