Selling Price Help on 1983 240D
I have been looking for another MB. I have found an ad for a 1983 240D.
Ad says: Dark red, 4 speed manual, 193K mi., Sunroof, Good Condition, $1600 What questions should I ask when I call about this car? What should I look for if I go take a look? Thanks for your help! |

GINGER97,
Check this thread out. It may give you some ideas and they are located in SC also. The only difference is the transmission is auto and you're looking at a manual and they are only one year apart. http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/diesel-discussion/63866-1982-240d-4-sale.html |
If it really looks nice and runs good... Then make a written agreement with the owner to purchase it at a specified price.. an option to purchase,,, and pay for an independant company like " lemon busters' to come out... or take it to them.... they will use a check list and give you the results...
The most important thing , aside from structural rust,,, is the compression reading on the engine... However, a manual trans 240d is a great car if it is in reasonable condition... and if you don't want it... it will be snapped up by someone on this board... they are salivating as I write this answer..... :D ____________________________ 1980 240d manual , manual windows, manual ac, no sunroof.... |

There's an 84 Euro 240D with a 5 speed in the autotrader here in DFW at $2500. ( Drool, Slobber ). Kinda spendy, but I bet it's a great car. 83 was the last year for U.S. spec 240D's.
