126 auxiliary water pump
After having minimal heat over the winter, and verifying that the mono valve is OK, it appears that I need to go after the auxiliary pump. However, on the 126 it appears to be buried under the hoses of the mono valve. Anybody have any tricks to get at it for testing and or/removal?
Thanks in advance, Brian Carlton 1984 300 SD |

There is no trick. Drain the coolant and go for it. It's located under and next to the monovalve. Getting to some of the hose clamps is tricky but not impossible. Remove monovalve and bracket and you'll see it behind the front firewall. You can loosen the firewall pieces for better access if you're feeling confident. Other than that its not a real bad job.

Get the battery out of the way and unbolt the monovalve from the double firewall. You'll need to undo some of the hose connections to get at the pump. Yours is probably held in by a rubber "sling" which is bolted to the firewall with two (8mm or 10mm, it slips me at this moment). Take the whole thing out (bracket and all) and change the pump. Also get a new hose from the monovalve to the pump (P/N: 463-501-63-82), about 2" long. Installation is the reverse of removal.
