ARV and EGR plug 1985 300TD?
After unplugging the ARV I can use the nut to seal the hole but what do I use on the vacuum line to seal it? Same for the EGR.
Thanks, Igor

I have seen people put a bb in the rubber part of the vacuum line. This is for testing purposes only though.

what is a BB?
I'm sorry but I don't know what a BB is. I just unpluged the lines and screwed some bolts into the lines and into the ARV and the EGR. The car now flies (my 0-60 time went from 16sec to 13sec). I am so happy!!!!! This is exactly what I wanted......low end power. My turbo now starts giving me more boost at about 1800RPM and that's exactly what I needed. Is unplugging the two safe though? This car runs so smooth and so fast now that I'm scared that something is going to blow up on me (you know how it gets quiet before the storm).
Ya'll Rock!!!!!!!

A bb is something you shoot out of a bb gun.

Having the ARV and EGR disconnected won't hurt anything. RT

A fuel injection plug works great in plugging the EGR, just go to a Merc Center and buy one for 49 cents or so... And to boot, its a factory part, so you're not plugging it with a non mercedes part! So you can be neurotic and illegal at the same time.... Keep in mind, messing with emission controls is not kosher.

Hi I know what the egr is and pretty sure where it is (right side of engine infront of air cleaner?) What is an AVR though and where is it cause my moms car can use the extra power now. It is a 300d Turbo diesel

ARV-Air Recirculation Valve. Kali cars in 84 and all 85's I believe. The ARV opens at cruise speeds/loads and allows some of the boost to "recirculate" to the intake side of the turbo. Not sure of the reason for this but it is %99.99999 chance emissions related. When I "disabled" mine I found the car much more responsive when the acclerator was pressed at highway speeds. I believe this is because the ARV allows boost to bleed off, when its disabled there is no lag time getting boost pressure up again. RT

So my moms 82 300d turbo doesnt have it right? I disabled the egr last night in it by plugging the vacuum line with a golf tee lol it felt it runs a bit smoother while cruising and accelerats a bit faster.
