Smile Descriptive Subject Titles

Forumites,
In the interest of fully utilizing the forums' search functionality, I'd like to suggest the idea of keeping the subject line in our first posts on a thread as descriptive of the post as possible.

For example, a subject that says: "I finally did it!" Doesn't tell me much if what you finally did was destroy your freshly rebuilt engine after driving off without replacing the oil sump drain plug.

Hopefully, no one takes offense at this suggestion because none is intended; it's only intended to make a good place even better.

Regardless of subject titles, I think this forum is one of the greatest resources I've ever come across. I'd be sunk without it.

Best regards to all,
Randy Leo

R Leo,

I agree whole heartedly.

"What caused This" tells us nothing about your problem and itf others are like me, they may just skip over your post and thus you get less or no answers.

A heading like "What caused my Radiator to rupture" is more descriptive and may aid others in a search.

Subject line:

I agree. Please tie it to subject.
Also please use search before asking question. You answer is in most cases already there.

I am sure that kind of title does Decrease the number of people who read it... and thus restricts the chances of a good fast answer...
However, fortunately , the search function works on the actual postings.....
I think there ought to be a sticky on top all the time about using the search function first.... newbies often don't even know it is there....

Amen is right. Too bad people don't listen though. Been through this on the email lists as well. Highly frustrating...
