fixed 83 SD cooling anomaly
I was having trouble with the SD's cooling. The temp gauge would stay below 80 at times and go close to 100 at other times. I replaced the thermostat and it improved only slightly.
I removed the reservoir cap to top off the coolant and the cap came apart in my hand. The silver part lifted but the seal stayed in the filler hole. One new cap later, all is right with the world. I also figured out why there was a constant puddle of coolant ahead of the reservoir and a corresponding loss of coolant. There's a crack at the bottom of the reservoir. I filled the crack with blue RTV and it's been holding. Sixto 91 300SE 87 300SDL 83 300SD |
