part discrepancy with my 84 300TDT

I need to replace the booster vacuum hose of my 84 300TDT... the problem is given my VIN# a different vacuum hose is shown in the micro film as against the original part that came with the car.

Micro film part# 123 430 58 29
(the 2 outlet vacuum fittings that attach to the straw like vacuum lines are positioned far apart, thus the vacuum lines are too short to attach to it)

part# that originally came with the car: 123 430 74 29
(the 2 outlet vacuum fittings are positioned next to each other whereby they perfectly attach to the straw like vacuum lines)

From what it seems, the micro film part# is definitely not the correct one. What may have caused such discrepancy?? Can anyone please shed light on this. Thanks in advance.

What's the VIN# of your car? If the last digits are 007398 or below, then the part # is 123 430 58 29, and if it is 007399 or above, the part # is 123 430 74 29

My VIN# is 005836. Definitely, I should be using the 58 29, however, my car came with the 74 29. I can't use the 58 29 because i'll have to extend the vacuum hoses to make it reach the fittings, unlike the 74 29 wherein the hoses are positioned perfectly by the fittings. Any idea on the causes of such discrepancy? Thanks.

Well, Mercedes has always been known to swap parts on the factory floor, particularly early model cars, etc... Mercedes was never known to practice JIT production methods until years after your car was made. Added to the fact you probably have either a World market car, or US market car modified to local specs, there are a hundred reasons why your car is not consistent with the microfitch. Being you live in an "emerging market" country, God only knows....
