Interesting find under the hood.
I popped the hood on the Euro 240D to do the oil level check. All checked out perfect. Approximately 170 miles with no change in the oil level. Looks like I finally found one that's gonna be a good one.
As for the interesting find. I looked at what someone thought was a power steering fluid filter. It is not. Believe it or not, this car has THREE fuel pre filters hooked up in series before entering the injection pump!! Methinks somebody wanted to be VERY sure that the fuel was at its absolute best. I hope that this is a positive indication of the level of care that this car has had throughout its life. |

Well that makes more sense. For all the world it looked to me like it was the power steering return line.
Does one of those filters have a drain for water? It looked like they were different types of filters too, not just three identical filters in a row. I'd still change out the "spin-on" filter - as I'm sure you will do with all the other maintenance things. Ken300D

Awsome car you have there. That euro 300D engine is quite different than the US counterpart. The injection pump is different as well as the EGR system.. it's really barebones which is awsome.

Turbodiesel, it's actually a 240D. Yes the car IS very basic. I like it alot. Even the sunroof is manually opened and closed.
