Beginning of transmission trouble?
When cold in the morning my '92 300 2.5 turbo-diesel seems to "miss a shift" when slowly starting off. It revs up like its slipping. Only does it once. Great the rest of the day. Fluid has been chaged every 15 to 30 thousand miles. car has 199K now. Fluid is clean and NOT burned smelling. Thank in advance. Ernie

When you drive a stick, the first shift in the morning is never your best. I guess it goes same for the automatic, mechanicals have morning issues too sometimes. Just chalk it up to a fluke for now, keep an eye on it for now. Blame the weather.

Similar to the first shift of the Dodge in the AM ?
Syn ATF in my MB tranny makes the first shift as smooth as the rest, no matter how coild it gets. HTH,

When this started happening in my 1982 300D (3-4 shift) on cold mornings, I was able to stop it by changing to synthetic ATF and a fresh transmission filter.
This does two things: 1) Synthetic ATF is probably less viscous than regular ATF when cold. And it is probably slicker. So whatever has to actuate does so better with the Synthetic. 2) A clean filter may improve the system's ability to produce hydraulic pressure. -------------------------- Ken300D
