automatic transmission fluid

I've never changed my automatic transmission fluid before and have some question. Where do I drain it from and how do i read the dipstick. Also, are there brands that I should be using thanks.

There is a plug underneath in the trans pan that takes an allen type wrench to remove. Should be right side rear, if memory serves. That is the primary drain. Then go to the torque convertor and you will find another plug of the same style there. You will need to rotate the torque convertor to find it. Either work it around with a screwdriver, of have an assistant turn the engine over slowly with from the front. That plug will drain about two quarts from the torque convertor.
Use Mobil 1 transmission fluid. When you fill it check the capacity first. It will take all of that and will measuse high at first then after warm up and a little drive will probably either read correctly or a bit low. Never overfill.
Read the trans dipstick with the car on level ground and the transmission hot. I believe it is best to pour about half or even less into the tranny and then start the car and pour the rest in as it will take it. The front pump will need to work it up into the torque convertor.

Try a search for more info..... there should be 100's of posts about this particular subject. There are a few other do's and don'ts.... like, don't get the pan too tight when putting it back on.
