great new brakes
 

A while ago I posted a wet braking problem, minimal at best. I talked to Phil and he said the pads are glazed. To make a short story long I replaced the front pads about 3 months after doing the rears. The minimal braking problem seemed to have vanished, but I was still wary. Today coming home across the causway to Knott's Island at a speed of 60 or so in a driving rain(don't tell the sheriff) a puppy dog ran right out in front of me. Well I am one who will swerve to hit snakes and possums but never a turtle or dog. I locked up them brakes to avoid the puppy and the ole buggy was straight and true. I stopped to see that the dog was OK, as he ran away and turned to look, I could see in his eyes that he was thankful I was driving a Benz.

It could have been a sand burrow truck. Be sure your braking system is completely functional!

I was always taught it was better to not lock up the brakes and that is why they invented anti lock brakes.

The antilock brakes on my Euro SE will bring it down in a straight line very quickly.Good thing to have when you live where there's lots of rain and lots of deer and elk crossing the roads, it not that I'm too proud to eat fresh road kill but but would rather someone in a beater pick up hits it and not my MB's.........

at the very last20 feet or so. I just did what I needed to. I also try not to lock em up but sometimes you need to.

Never ever swerve to avaoid a dog or other animal. I did that once and nearly killed myself. I'll brake in a straight line but I won't sverve to avoid it.

Who's life is more important, yours or the dog?
