Question Euro 4spd manual in 240D?

My 1983 240D's manual 4spd finally pooped out. Real hard...

I have the opportunity to purchase a Euro 300D manual 4spd/parts.
Soooooo, my questions is (yes, I did search) will it work? If not, why and what extra parts will I need off the Euro 300D?

Many Thanks!!!
-Brian

Your 240D 4sp manual transmisssion failed at a little over 200K? Any details you can share? What fluid were you using? Last checked?

I think it'll work, but I'd be sure to hold onto the flywheel off of the 617. Unless you plan to use it, I'm sure that someone on here will be interested...

It has 213K now, but when it started failing (grinding from 3-4) it had about 205k.
I was using ATF, as that is what the manual says and what the previous owner used.
One day, the synchro finally gave way, and I lost 3rd!
I drove it without 3rd for about 5k...because I was supposedly getting another tranny...in retrospect I probably shoudl have either parked it or gotten it fixed right then.

Now it is dead in the water.
